Bio

Don Gatlin formed the group Savannah Jack in 2003 after an already long and successful career in Nashville. The band started out playing on the roof at Graham central station. They honed their skills on Broadway at The Stage before traveling to Vegas and becoming regulars at the Sahara, then the Tropicana. They made their first CD in 2006, then again in 2008 featuring all original music.

Don’s dream of getting his music recorded by many of country music’s biggest stars came true when Kenny Rogers recorded Don’s song “I won’t forget“ then “Somethings wrong in Vegas” on Kenny’s 50th anniversary CD. Kenny loved Don‘s voice and asked Savannah Jack to join him on the road. This led to 66 performances opening for Kenny Rogers.

In 2010 Savannah Jack had their first nation wide release with some of the greatest musicians and singers guesting on the album like Vince Gill, Steve Ferronne (from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Paul Franklin (the world’s greatest steel player). Don wrote “I know“ and it became the first single off the album that charted nationally for the group. Even their version of the national anthem stayed on the Billboard charts for months. The groups second single “The Apple” included popular video to go with it. Their 2012 live album featured cowrites with Blake Shelton, Dylan Scott, Billy Montana and other friends of the group. By 2014 the group’s fan base was spreading all over the country and their 2014 release is considered by a lot of their fans as their best. It features guest Grammy winners Vince Gill, Ronnie McCurry, John Jergonson, and Love And Theft. Besides opening for Kenny all over the country/world, the group has fronted shows for the Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Brantley Gilbert, Billy Currington, Peter Frampton, and opening for Lady Antebellum at the legendary Ryman Auditorium.

Over the last few years Savannah Jack has spread their name by performing all over the world headlining cruise ships, live on stage tours, and even performing at Walt Disney World magic kingdom. Savannah Jack made their first Christmas album in 2016 recording with no tuning or overdubs. It was an old-school approach and again lots of their friends showed up to lend a hand like country legends Jimmy Fourtine from the Statler Brothers, Ronnie Mcdowell and other wonderful friends.

The guys are touring and winning over new fans and friends more than ever. In 2018 Don made a solo project of original music. Tony Haan, the amazing guitarist and vocalist over the last four years, also made an incredible solo record featuring original music. But look for more powerful music from the group of 2020 that will feature amazing guitar work from Tony and equally incredible fiddle from Jay Smith. Tony and Jay have become incredible showmen. Rounding out the group is Phil Potor, who brings a super hard-working ethic to the job and is fun to watch when he’s behind the kit.
